The Ocean’s Eleven series star George Clooney was arrested and released by Sudan officials after paying a $100 bond.
Hollywood star was there to support Sudanese protestors against Sudan’s president, Omar al-Bashir for his policies against newly independent South Sudan.
50 year old Clooney was arrested with his journalist dad Nick (78) and Martin Luther King III, son of the civil rights leader with 15 protestors after avoiding repeated warning from police.
“The Sudanese government must stop randomly killing its own innocent men, women and children,” Clooney says.
“We need humanitarian aid to be allowed into the Sudan before it becomes the worst humanitarian crisis in the world – immediately.” He added.
Post release, actor shares his experience, “It’s actually a humiliating thing to be arrested, no matter what you do, but I’m glad to be standing here with my father.”
Earlier to participate in protest George Clooney met President Obama to intervene to stop cruelty against humanity in Sudan.
Yet it was first arrest of Oscar winning actor, he hopes it will be last too. Her mom Nina also felt proud on this son’s action in support of Sudanese population, “I’m extremely proud of him.”
